I was sweating, although it was a cool cloudy morning, by the time I reached the top. I scanned the horizon and briefly took in the unique view of the surrounding area and then down at the site. I was not sure what the expectations were for the pictures I was to take although I had seen archeological site photographs from other digs. I felt like I worked in slow motion, always being sure to maintain a firm grip on the ladder. I shot pictures with a manual focus through the lens camera and with my own camera. Then I slowly began my descent one step at a time. I can only imagine what pictures I took that morning, I never saw them. The next day I was off to Paris to meet my girl friend.
