mmmm
On the first day of November I took out the last of the plants except for the marigolds, put down a couple of bags of steer manure, some lime and leaves. I turned the soil in the entire garden, digging in the leaves, lime and manure. The soil was in much better shape than this same time last year, much more organic material which meant the soil was easier to turn, few big clumps.
Some more leaves for the top of the soil and I feel like I will have put the garden to bed until next February. It was a good year, a learning year. On this level I feel like I can be a good gardener. Early next year I will plan and lay out the new garden. I have some ideas already where I will be planting some of the vegetables.
With the time change from daylight saving it feels like we have shifted to winter mode, although we have still had some sunny fall days this month.
fffff
