Tasty Beans!
Broccili started from seed in july
July continued the cool wet summer trend, at month's end average rainfall but most of the rain came in the beginning of the month. The adage here, summer doesn't settle in until after the 4th of July was true this year. Lots of clouds and Spring type weather.
Middle and late month was more normal and much less rain after it appeared we were headed for a record wet month. There were a couple of days when we wanted the overhead fan in the living room but not many days. And so I decided to forgo getting the fan fixed to a later date, next spring?
The tomatoes are on the vine but very green, the plants doing very well. I started to cut back the tomato plants to encourage tomato production and growth. I took out the last of the peas, but I still haven't found a good climbing medium for the peas but they were good and productive until the warm weather ended them. In their spot I planted a line of broccoli which came up nicely and quickly.
In July I began taking partially composted leaves each time I went to the garden. I also purchased 20 lbs. of general purpose organic fertilizer to put in with the leaf compost mixture. The beans look good and I was able to harvest some at the very end of the month.
The zuccini-- One huge plant and some very large zuccinis. Obviously the plant likes it here. Got a few cucumbers and made the first Greek salad of the year, sadly with store bought tomatoes.
